The sun dawning in the little town of Port-Kee. Wess was already feeding the chickens when Korback the innkeeper came to him ‘Come on you little rascal, go to the kitchen and start peeling the potatoes, we don’t want the clients to wait.’ Wess went to the inn without saying a word because Korback was the only person to take him in after the death of his parents. The Green Boar was a filthy place full of drunken woodsmen and sailors. The kitchen was the only place that was remotely clean because Wess spent his time cleaning it. The young man interred the dinning room and a drunken sailor grunted at him. The room was filled with stale air and sent of cigar smoke that made Wess sick to his stomach. So he ran to the kitchen, once there he saw the stack of potatoes near the sink and gave a sigh of deception. Doing the task at hand he noticed something strange. The inn  went totally silent. Curious by nature Wess went to see.

The creature made his entrance at the inn, all the patrons and even Korback the innkeeper was trembling with fear at the sight of the ugly beast. For it was unusual in the town of Port-Kee to see such a creature. All where scared except for one man, a stranger to the town, he got up and stood in the shadow for some time watching the creature. He had a stretched face and shallow cheeks. He started to walk towards the beast. The patrons where more and more terrified as the man and the beast got closer and closer. The bravest of them dared to make wagers as battle was in the air. The man walked miserably towards the Minautor with his cane at his side. He looked horribly old, but it looked as dough he still had his wits about him.

He looked at the creature that was very close to him and said in a menacing voice: ‘You are late, I taught you would be here yesterday.’

The Minautor said nothing and looked at him quit furiously. The two travelers where now so close that the men that put wagers on the battle were now at the edge of there seats. But they were all deceived when the beast tapped the man¸ on the shoulder and said in a cheerful manner  ‘You know it’s not easy traveling with these huge horns.’
The old man replied with a smile ‘Come I will pay you a drink.’
As they where sitting down the Minautor said:

‘You look tired Vorto what going on?’
‘The war is over and I am tired, I think that I am going to stop Drem. The king has been good to me but I no longer wish to be under his command.’
‘But… What are you going to do with all the time?’
‘ I am going to find myself an apprentice. Someone who will need my services.’

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Wess was cleaning the tower of dishes left on the counter by his uncle. The task was arduous but he never gave up. Wess was an avid learner he wanted to become a mage just like his father. Before the war, he taught him some basic magic and Wess practiced every day. Vorto felt magic in the inn. I was weak but he could still feel it.

He went to the kitchen to see the mess on the floor. The wizard lifted his hand and before Wess could blink the dishes where repaired and on the shelves. He looked kindly at child that was no older than nine and said to himself that he could be his next apprentice.
